Timothy O’Neill brings to his calligraphic art a background in historical studies and a thorough familiarity with all aspects of the medieval manuscript tradition. He holds that writing as an art form transcends the functional by adding a further dimension to the text and he believes that the materials chosen for a piece are a significant element in the overall concept. He has designed and created numerous manuscript books and has worked closely with poets in both Irish and English to present artwork that bridges the literary and artistic traditions. |
